West Prairie School District 103 is advancing its search for a new superintendent. The Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) has identified three to six candidates through a nationwide survey. The school board plans to begin reviewing applicant packets on Saturday, October 25, with closed sessions to follow soon after.
The names of the candidates remain confidential until their packets are formally presented to the board. The October 25 review date is tentative and may change due to scheduling conflicts or unforeseen events.
School Board President Scott Vogler said setting an early date is important to give IASB staff enough time to organize interviews, some of which may require candidates to travel to the district.
“This timeline helps ensure a smooth interview process,” Vogler said.
In other developments, the girls sports cooperative between West Prairie 103 and Southeastern School District 337 is close to becoming official. Southeastern is expected to vote this week on approving a coop for girls’ softball and basketball.
The board also approved a bid from Straightline Construction LLC to build a new storage facility measuring approximately 64 by 44 feet at West Prairie High School. Construction is expected to begin within the next month.
Meanwhile, the district’s new greenhouse project at the high school is progressing. The greenhouse structure is scheduled to arrive by the end of September 2025, with construction set to be completed by mid-October. Several regional businesses and organizations have already expressed interest in the project.
