Roy Lee Johlfs

77, of Macomb

Roy Lee Johlfs of Macomb passed away at 3:04 p.m. on Monday, September 22, 2025 at the age of 77 in Macomb.

He was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 5, 1948 to Winfria E. Leonard Johlfs and Harold E. Johlfs.

He married Judy K. Foxall Johlfs in 1992 in Macomb at Wesley United Methodist Church. He was married to Connie T. McAdams Johlfs and they had two sons, Russel and Craig, who were born in Macomb.

He is survived by the immediate family of his wife Judy of Macomb, son Craig S. Johlfs (wife MJ and granson Julian) of Aurora, Colorado; brothers, Roger D. Johlfs (wife Kathy) of Grayslake, Illinois, and Ronald G. Johlfs (wife Debbie) of Henderson, Nevada; and sister Joyce M. Johlfs Grabarec (husband Mike) of Scottsdale, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Judy; son, Russel Roy; and sister, Shirley A. Martin Evenson.

Roy graduated from Grant Community High School in Fox Lake, Illinois, and from Western Illinois University, Macomb. He served in the US Navy as an Aviation Electronics Technician during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in LeMoore Naval Station in California, and his squadron VA-144 had two tours of war duty on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Bon Homme Richard.

Roy worked for the U.S. Dept of Defense after graduating form WIU. He worked as controller and office manager at Midwest Contro Products Corp. in Bushnell, IL, for 17 years. He later owned and operated Johlfs Insurance agency in Macomb as an Allstate Insurance agent. He became a University of Illinois Master Gardener and owned and operated his own landscaping business. He retired from Pella Window Corp. in Macomb in 2010. After retiring, Roy enjoyed learning to repair things, and had a small handyman business.

Roy and Judy enjoyed spending much of their time together and enjoyed many of the same things: drinking coffee, walking, doing puzzles, reading, and watching movies, working in their yard. They enjoyed living in Macomb.

Roy was president of the Macomb Little League for several years. He enjoyed playing tennis and pickle ball and was helpful to those who wanted to learn those sports. Roy enjoyed helping people, especially his neighbors. Many times he would have a job completed even before the neighbor realized it needed to be done. It seemed that no job was too big or too small, and he was always there to help. He did these jobs with patience and a joyful attitude.

He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Macomb.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, September 28, 2025 at Wesley United Methodist Church with Pastor Melly Momo officiating. Private burial will be held at Oakwood Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Macomb YMCA. Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb is in charge of arrangements. You may leave condolences and sign the guest book online at clugston-tibbitts.com.
