Why is the fire truck always so serious? Because it has a burning passion for its job.
A Macomb Fire Department truck, Lifeguard Ambulance, an Illinois State Police cruiser, construction and large equipment trucks, a bus, tractors and more will be a part of the fourth annual Macomb Park District's Touch a Truck Saturday, Oct. 4 at Veterans Park in Macomb. The fun begins at 11 a.m. and runs through 2 p.m. A special 'sensory- friendly' hour (no sirens, horns or lights) will take place during the final hour, from 1-2 p.m.
Children of all ages are invited to climb into the vehicles, run sirens and honk horns at this free event. In addition to vehicles of all shapes and sizes, a 'monster truck' inflatable will be on site, and a tractor-related booth will be set up courtesy of 4H.
'Touch a Truck is an exciting display of community service and heart,' said Macomb Park District Superintendent of Events Michelle Narvaez. 'By sparking curiosity and providing opportunities for hands on exploration, kids get familiar with the workspaces and people that help keep our community running.'
