The Macomb High boys golf squad finished third out of seven teams in Monday’s Prairieland Conference Meet held at Gold Hills.
The Bombers posted a team score of 330. MHS was led by Drew Taylor, who tied for 10th overall, posting a score of 80 on the par 71 layout. The finish allowed Taylor to earn all-conference honors, given to the top 10 individual finishers, including ties.
Luke Chapla, narrowly missed earning all-conference honors as he finished 12th overall with an 82. Ethan Dildine and Eli Griffith tied for 17th overall with 84s, while Isaac Leinbach was 19th with an 85 and Toby Royer 22nd with a 90.
Illini West ran away with the team title, recording a record-setting score of 294.
Brimfield was second at 319, followed by Macomb, Elmwood (339), LVC (369), Farmington (381) and Havana (449).
All six Illini West players earned all-conference honors. Charger sophomore Bryson Grotts captured medalist honors by shooting an even-par 71, while sophomore teammate Nolan Murphy was the runner-up at 1-over 72.
Bryton Gavillet, Brimfield’s Will Snyder and Elmwood’s Kuper Bolton tied for third at 75.
Charger Jack Duffy finished sixth with a 76, while teammates Brennan Grotts and Wesley Robertson, along with LVC’s Drake Hanson, finished in a three-way tie for seventh at 78.
Brimfield’s Dane Fagerburg and Taylor tied for 10th. The Bombers were scheduled to head to Wee-Ma-Tuk Country Club on Thursday to face Canton.
On Sept. 22, the team will host Quincy Notre Dame and Abingdon-Avon at the Macomb Country Club.
