At 11:07 p.m. on September 10, firefighters were dispatched to 606 S. Albert St. after reports of a garage fully engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading toward the residence. Fire crews arrived within three minutes to find smoke and flames coming from the garage, beginning to ignite the house and a car parked in the driveway.

Six firefighters initially responded with two engines. Additional support came from two fire chiefs and six off-duty firefighters, who assisted in controlling the blaze and covering other emergency calls.

The fire was brought under control by 11:52 p.m. Fire investigators processed the scene and cleared at 1:47 a.m.

The garage sustained extensive fire, smoke, and water damage, with an estimated loss of $35,000. Fire and firefighting efforts also damaged part of the residence. Two vehicles parked in and near the garage were significantly damaged.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined and is still under investigation.

The Macomb Fire Department thanked the Macomb-McDonough County Communications Center, Macomb Police Department, Lifeguard Ambulance Service of Illinois, and Ameren Illinois for their assistance.
