The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Macomb is announcing an adult education series exploring “Nonviolent Methods of Civil Resistance” led by WIU Religious Studies Professor, Betsy Perabo. The kickoff of the series will take place this Sunday morning, Sept. 14, at 10:30 as part of normal services and will continue as an ongoing class on subsequent Sundays running 9:30a to 10:15a prior to service. Both the presentation and the classes take place at the Macomb UU at 300 Wigwam Hollow Rd. and are open to anyone interested in participating. This adult education series will explore both religious and nonreligious approaches to civil resistance.

The main reading for the series is Michael Beer’s Civil Resistance Tactics in the 21st Century (International Center on Nonviolent Conflict, 2021), which is available for free download through(https://www.nonviolent- conflict.org/resource/ civil-resistance-tactics-inthe- 21st-century/) and can also be purchased as an ebook or hard copy. Handouts with brief additional readings or links to articles or videos will be passed out a week in advance. Those interested should reach out to Macomb UU Director, John Curtis at MacombUUnews@ gmail.com
