SATURDAYS Story Hour and Crafts Saturdays at The Blandinsville-Hire Library at 10 AM.

Snacks will be available. Check out the many new kids and young adult books. Spend some time at the library and take a book home to read!

SUNDAYS STARTING SEPT. 7 Youth Program

held every Sunday for 5th grade through High School students from 4:00 pm until 5:30 pm throughout the school year beginning on September 7, 2025. The After-School Program will be held every Tuesday for Kindergarten through High School students from 4:00 pm until 5:00 pm throughout the school year beginning on September 9, 2025. The Life Skills Program for 5th grade through High School students will meet on a day and time to be determined depending on the interest expressed at the kickoff.

at 6:30 P.M. in the Colchester City Hall Community Room, 500 E Roberts ST. WIU Professor Tim Roberts will present the program “Underground Railroad”. Everyone is invited to attend.

THURSDAYS & SATURDAYS Macomb Farmers Market

Macomb's Farmers Market is held in Chandler Park on Thursdays & Saturdays from 8 am to Noon. On both mornings you'll find fresh local produce, eggs, baked goods, and honey, as well as locally grown fresh cut flowers, locally made personal care products, & hand-crafted goods made by local artisans. On Saturday, we'll also have local pasture- raised packaged meat, assorted ready-to-eat brunch meals, on-site knife & blade sharpening, free dog training tips for you & your pooch from Wilson's Dog Training, and live music by acclaimed local musician Dan Eilers!

FRIDAY & SATURDAY, SEPT. 5 & 6 Macomb Balloon Rally

Friday, Sept 5 at Vince Grady Field with WIU’s Jazz Studio Orchestra performing at 5:30pm and Balloon Flight at 6pm. On Saturday, Sept. 6 there will be a balloon flight at 6:45am and 6pm from various locations with a performance from “The House Cats” from 6-9pm and a Balloon Glow at dusk (approx. 7:30pm).

SATURDAY, SEPT. 6 Annual Gazebo Art Festival

featuring 28 artists with a variety of media, including metal, painting, glass, fiber, woodworking, fine art prints, zen gardens, ceramics, jewelry and photography. Food provided by the High School FFA. The Quesal Puppet Show at 11AM, and again at 1PM. Community Clay Sculpture hosted by Macomb Park District. Face Painting, Watercolor Activity for kids, and decorating an Art House Doll House. 9AM - 4PM in Chandler Park Friends of the Library Book Sale Join us in Chandler Park from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The sale is held in conjunction with the Gazebo Art Festival. We have a great selection of 'better books'(children, youth, adults) arranged in subject order. Proceeds are invested in the Macomb Public Library. This is a fair weather sale only.

Back to School VBS Join us at First Baptist Church of Macomb (1515 S. Candy Lane) on Saturday, September 6th, from 10 a.m. - 12 noon for Back to School VBS. Events for the day include: a puppet show, games, crafts and lunch. For more information or to pre-register, call the church office at 309-8332479. Macomb Library Knitting Club Meets on the first Saturday of the month at 10:30am. Share your love of knitting or crocheting with both experienced and beginner crafters. Meet fellow knitters, brush up on skills and learn new techniques. Materials will be provided but feel free to bring your own projects. All levels of experience are welcome.

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 10 The Page Turners Book Club meets the second Wednesday of every month from 4:305:30pm in the Macomb Public Library Meeting room. The public is invited to attend.

THURSDAY, SEPT. 11 AARP Smart Driver course

at McDonough County Health Department, 505 E. Jackson Street, Macomb. Class will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 8am-5pm. The classroom course cost is $20 for AARP members and $25 for non-AARP members. Space is limited so register now by calling 309-837-9951. AARP members must bring AARP card to class. You may qualify for an automobile insurance discount.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 12 County Retired Teachers meeting

All McDonough county retired teachers and staff are invited to the Trinity Lutheran Church, 123 S. Campbell at 9 am. Speaker Janet Rauch, from Patches & Piecework, will talk about the preservation and care of old quilts. You are encouraged to bring in old quilts for “show and tell” or ask about fixing a problem. Snacks and coffee will be available.

VFW Serving Smash Burgers Noon- 7at the Macomb VFW Post 1921, 1200 E Jefferson St Downtown Block Party from 4:30-6:30pm.Sponsored by the City of Macomb, Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce, Western Illinois University, Spoon River College, and Macomb School District.
