Sixteen high school volleyball teams took to the courts at Brophy Hall on the Western Illinois University campus on Aug. 30 to play in the annual Macomb Volleyball Classic Tournament.
Teams were split into four pools of four teams with the pools this year named after characters from the television show “The Golden Girls.”
Pool results were as follows: Rose Nylund Pool
Peoria Notre Dame defeated Rockridge, 25-7, 25-19; Macomb, 25-10, 25-17 and Deer Creek-Mackinaw, 25-19, 15-25, 15-11.
Macomb defeated Deer Creek-Mackinaw 23-25, 25-15, 16-14 and Rockridge, 25-22, 25-17.
Deer Creek-Mackinaw defeated Rockridge, 25-16, 25-18.
Blanche Devereaux Pool
Limestone defeated West Prairie, 25-6, 25-10; Pleasant Plains 25-22, 25-19 and Kewanee High, 25-13, 25-20.
Pleasant Plains defeated Kewanee High, 25-14, 27-25 and West Prairie, 25-16, 25-23.
Kewanee High defeated West Prairie, 25-22, 25-22.

Orion defeated Ridgewood, 25-8, 25-7; Lewistown, 25-18, 25-16 and Illini West, 25-17, 28-26.
Illini West defeated Lewistown, 26-16, 26-24 and Ridgewood, 25-17, 25-17.
Lewistown defeated Ridgewood, 25-19, 25-18.

Eureka defeated Geneseo 25-18, 26-28, 15-8; Athens, 25-17, 25-27, 15-9 and Monmouth United, 25-14, 25-19.
Athens defeated Monmouth United, 25-22, 25-15 and Geneseo, 25-16, 24-26, 15-10.
Geneseo defeated Monmouth United, 25-18, 25-18.
Following pool play, teams were once again divided into groups of four based on pool play results.

Limestone defeated Orion, 25-19, 25-14.
Third place - Peoria Notre Dame defeated Orion, 25-18, 25-19.
Championship - Limestone defeated Eureka, 25-12, 25-15.

Athens defeated Macomb 25-18, 26-24.
Pleasant Plains defeated Illini West 22-25, 25-17, 15-9.
Seventh place - Macomb defeated Illini West, 21-25, 27-25, 15-1.
Fifth place - Athens defeated Pleasant Plains, 25-16, 18-25, 15-10.
Court 3
Geneseo defeated Deer Creek-Mackinaw, 25-20, 26-28, 15-13.
Kewanee High defeated Lewistown, 25-21, 25-15.
11th place - Deer Creek-Mackinaw defeated Lewistown, 25-19, 25-14.
Ninth place - Geneseo defeated Kewanee High, 25-13, 25-15.
Court 4
Monmouth United defeated Rockridge, 25-21, 26-24.
West Prairie defeated Ridgewood, 25-12, 25-12.
15th place - Rockridge defeated Ridgewood, 25-15,26-24.
13th place - Monmouth United defeated West Prairie, 25-22, 22-25, 16-14.
