The 2025 Colchester Lions Club Labor Day Festival opened Friday with a warm welcome from Master of Ceremonies Greg Phelps, who previewed the weekend’s lineup of activities and attractions.
Mayor Mark Clark followed with brief remarks, thanking attendees for supporting the annual community event.
“This festival takes a lot of work from the Lions Club, volunteers, and local organizations,” Clark said. “We appreciate everyone’s support and hope you enjoy the weekend.”
Lions Club President David Hall thanked volunteers, including those who traveled from Clayton, Illinois, to help set up. “If you see a Lions member, please thank them,” Hall said.
Highlights included a car show, where Andy Kuenzl’s 1960 Pontiac Catalina won Best of Show.
Winners of the grand parade were:
• 1st Place: West Side Lumber
• 2nd Place: Step Zimmerman Photography
• 3rd Place (tie): Cheerful Chester 4H Club and Christ’s Church
The three-day festival attracted thousands, celebrating community spirit and the arrival of fall.
