MHS Boys Golf Team Busy On The Links

The Macomb High boys golf team had a busy holiday weekend, taking part in tournaments at Monmouth and Cambridge.

On Friday, the Bombers headed to Gibson Woods for the Monmouth-Roseville Titan Invitational.

Macomb finished seventh out of eight teams with a score of 339.

Ethan Dildine led the Bombers with a score of 80. Drew Taylor was next with an 85, followed by Eli Griffith and Isaac Leinbach, who finished with 87s.

Luke Chapla posted a 92 and Toby Royer a 94. Their scores did not count toward Macomb’s total.

Dunlap captured the team title with a score of 297. Quincy Notre Dame was next at 304, followed by East Peoria (321), Peoria Notre Dame (324), Peoria Christian (329), Peoria Richwoods (334), MHS and Chillicothe IVC (364).

On Saturday the team traveled to the Valley View Country Club in Cambridge for the Mercer County Invitational.

The Bombers finished second out of 10 teams with a score of 323.

Macomb had three golfers place in the top 10. Taylor placed third with a 78, while Dildine (80) and Chapla (81) finished seventh and eighth respectively.

Griffith rounded out the top MHS scores with an 84. Royer and Leinbach finished with scores of 89 and 98 respectively for the Bombers.

Illini West won the team title posting a score of 311. Following the Bombers were Ridgewood (330), Monmouth United (343), Orion (344), Rockridge (345), Mercer County (369), Sherrard (374), Farmington (387) and Stark County (492).

The Bombers are scheduled to return to action Wednesday, hosting Quincy High and Monmouth-Roseville for varsity and JV play.

On Thursday, the team heads to Galesburg to face the Silver Streaks for varsity and JV play at Bunker Links.
