Bushnell Considers Dog Park, Addresses Park Maintenance and Festival Costs

Bushnell’s City Council met Monday evening at City Hall to discuss community concerns and city business.

Carol Eakins, a local resident, urged the council to consider creating a dog park in the city. The request will be reviewed by the Parks and Recreation Committee.

Another resident, Jim Martin, praised the city for recently installing signs and dog waste stations in the park but voiced concerns about overgrown trees and bushes that need trimming.

The council approved minutes from the August 4 meeting and accepted the July financial report in a unanimous vote.

Public Works reported a water leak from the splash park onto the golf course, which the Street Department quickly repaired. Officials also noted sidewalks require repairs to meet Safe Routes to School grant standards.

The Police and Liquor Committee reminded organizers that the city must be notified at least two weeks in advance of any fun run events.

In Parks and Recreation news, the Quarter Auction is set for November 15. The Historical Society has vacated its building, and plans are underway to repurpose the space and add a new office.

Other committees provided updates or noted upcoming meetings, with no significant reports from Engineering or the City Attorney.

Mayor Dave Norton adjourned the meeting at 6:13 p.m.
