For a howling good time, that also benefits the Humane Society of McDonough County (HSMC), head to The Wine Sellers in downtown Macomb Saturday, Sept. 6 for the fifth annual Play It Forward Event.
With eight musicians and/or groups taking the stage at The Back Door Beer Garden at The Wine Sellers, the fundraiser, through free will donations and musician tips, will run from 1-9 p.m. Acts include Hincks & Lane, Tim Harting, Dick Marcott, H.A.T. Trio, King Neptune, EastEnders, Bill Maakestad and Dennis Devolder. Last year's event raised nearly $4,600.
'It will be a day of music, food and fun benefiting the Humane Society of McDonough County's ongoing efforts to build a new animal shelter. Beginning at 1 p.m., we'll feature a new local musician at the top of each hour throughout the afternoon and into the evening,' said The Wine Sellers owners Craig & Julia Bruns. 'In addition to monetary donations, we will also be accepting donations of pet food and supplies for the Pet Food Pantry. Sullivan Taylor Uptown will also be on hand with some delicious food options. Please join us for some great music, great food, great drinks and a great cause!'
The HSMC is in the midst of its New Shelter Building Campaign, with close to $900,000 raised to date for the new McDonough County Animal Shelter. The City of Macomb has agreed to lease land just east of the current shelter on Tower Road for the construction of the new shelter. At least an additional $500,000 may be needed to complete the project, Smith-Skripps noted.
The HSMC is a State of Illinois not-for-profit and a qualified 501(c)(3) charitable organization. All donations to the New Building Campaign (and the HSMC) are tax-deductible.
