The Macomb High cross country team hosted its annual Early Bird Meet Wednesday evening at Spring lake Park.
Joining the Bombers were runners from Bushnell-Prairie City, West Prairie, Brown County, Mendon Unity, Pleasant Hill, Quincy Notre Dame and West Hancock.
Macomb and Quincy Notre Dame were the only two schools to field full teams. The Bombers bested the Raiders in the team scoring 17-44.
There were 31 participants in the boys race with Macomb runners claiming the top four spots.
Junior Alex Simmons led the way, completing the threemile course in a time of 17 minutes and seven seconds.
Freshman Landon Richards finished second (17:45.2), followed by junior Marc Simmons (17:58.3) and freshman Jackson Petitgout (17:58.5).
Junior Eyman Tasdan finished 10th (19:25.0) for the Bombers, followed by sophomore Xander Merritt (11th, 19:47.0), junior Cohen Hunt-Twomey (13th, 20:30.5), freshman Thomas Ashwood (17th, 20:57.5) and sophomore Grant Potteet (24th, 23:02.4).

West Prairie, in its first season of running cross country, had four runners taking part.
Freshman Ezra Bithos finished sixth overall with a time of 18:27.9.
Freshman Ayden Lacey was 12th (20:02.6), followed by classmate Milo Rodeffer (14th, 20:33.3) and sophomore Jacob Foust (30th, 31:36.6).
B-PC also had two runners in the competition with junior Logan Joiner finishing 28th (26:41.7) and senior Brett Havens placing 29th (31:02.4).
The girls race had 28 participants with Macomb and QND the only schools to field full teams.
In the end, the Bombers edged the Raiders 25-30 for top honors.
Macomb had four runners finish in the top 10, led by overall winner freshman Ella McKee, who completed the three-mile circuit in a time of 20:45.9.
Junior Ava Weaver was third (21:14.9), followed by freshman Allexis Gray (fourth, 21:26.5) and sophomores Khloe Diggs (10th, 24:13.5) and Sofia Cardenas-Roman (11th, 24:14.8).
Rounding out the Bomber results were freshman Leah Gorman (20th, 27:57.6) and senior Jackie Rouse (24th, 30:43.5).
Freshman Brynlee Finch represented West Prairie, finishing 17th with a time of 26:13.9.
