Bushnell-Prairie City HS Addresses Staph Infection Cases Among Students

Bushnell-Prairie City High School is taking swift action to address multiple reported cases of staph infection among students, as Principal Jerry Butcher informed parents this week. In collaboration with school officials, measures including enhanced cleaning protocols and student hygiene education are now in place to help contain the outbreak.

Bushnell-Prairie City High School Principal Jerry Butcher alerted parents and guardians Monday about multiple cases of staph infection reported among students.

In response, school officials held a meeting with administration, maintenance staff, and the school nurse to implement measures aimed at controlling the outbreak.

Key steps include:
- Sports teams and physical education students are required to take their practice clothes and gear home for washing. No students will dress for PE classes tomorrow.
- Custodial staff will perform a deep cleaning of locker rooms and increase disinfecting efforts on desks, bus seats, doorknobs, and other high-traffic areas.
- School activities, including classes, practices, and games, will continue as scheduled. Parents are urged to notify the school if their child shows symptoms.

School nurse Mrs. Napier emphasized the importance of good hygiene to prevent the spread. She advised students to wash their hands regularly, shower after activities, and avoid sharing personal items like deodorant or razors.
