MHS Boys Golf Opens Season At Raider/Redbird Classic

The Macomb High boys golf team opened its 2025 season Tuesday afternoon at the Raider/Redbird Classic in Normal.

The Bombers finished 15th out of 21 teams, posting a score of 330, 46 over par.

Senior Drew Taylor led the way for the Bombers, carding a 77 on the par 71 layout at the Weibring Golf Club.

Seniors Ethan Dildine and Toby Royer were next for MHS with scores of 83 and 84 respectively.

Sophomore Luke Chapla rounded out the top scores for Macomb, posting an 86.

Senior Isaac Leinbach finished with a 92, while freshman Eli Griffith recorded a 94.

The team standings saw Pleasant Valley take top honors, finishing with a score of two under par 282.

Normal University High was next with a 287, followed by Quincy Notre Dame (292), Mt. Zion (293) and St. Viator (298).

Macomb finished ahead of host Bloomington High (332), Assumption (333), Marmion Academy (335), Lincoln (343), Limestone (358) and Monticello (364).

The Bombers return to action Saturday, hosting the annual Gary Saunders Invitational at the Macomb Country Club starting at 8:30 a.m.

OnAug. 27, the team heads to Kellogg Golf Course in Peoria for the Notre Dame Tournament.

That event was scheduled for Aug. 18, but rescheduled due to the excessive heat.
