Rotary of Macomb Meeting Highlights

The Rotary of Macomb meets Tuesdays at noon at the First Presbyterian Church.

August 19, 2025 Our 8th meeting of the Rotary year commenced with President Seth Minter ceremoniously ringing the Rotary bell. Todd Rodeffer delivered the invocation, and Dennis Danowski led the “Pledge of Allegiance.”

Dennis Iversen reported that 27 members attended, including one via Zoom, which represented 53.8% of the club.

Happy Money was collected from 6 Rotarians who were celebrating a happy occasion or event that occurred during the week. Rotarian Carl Hendrickson participated in the 50/50 drawing but did not win the $129 when he drew the 7 of Hearts instead of the 7 of Clubs.

President Seth made announcements. First, the Rotary Club of Monmouth had sent out a plea for volunteers to help this Saturday, 8/23/25 with a Sleep in Heavenly Peace Bed Build Day they have organized. The were wanting our club and the morning club to come and help if possible. An email was to be sent to the two clubs. Second, September 2025 includes a fifth Tuesday which will be 9/30/25. This will be a social event and there will be drawing for the $20,000 Raffle on that date. Seth also reminded the club that on Saturday, October 4, 2025, the Rotary District 6460 will be having a Foundation Dinner in Macomb that is for the Central area. Our club will be getting recognized for the great year of giving to the Rotary Foundation.

He also mentioned the upcoming meeting programs which will be Tuesday, August 26, 2025, Kim Pierce and Mayor Mike Inman and Tuesday, September 2, 2025, a representative from the Kibbe Museum from Carthage.

Rotarian Ryan Van Dolah, our Fundraising Chair, announced the start of the club’s annual raffle fundraiser. The Grand Prize is $20,000, with additional prizes including $2,500 for second place, $1,000 for third place, $750 for fourth place, and $500 for fifth place. Tickets are again priced at $100 and will be available for six weeks. In total, $24,750 in prizes will be distributed, and four scholarships have already been awarded. Members have been asked to sell tickets, and tables will be set up at various functions to facilitate sales. This fundraiser has been held by the club for the past four years.

Ryan reminded the members that every week during the selling period there will be an Early Bird drawing from the tickets sold for one free ticket to put in the drawing.

The club recited the “Four Way Test”, which was followed by ringing the Rotary bell and encouraging everyone to make Rotary Part Of Their Life – and to “Unite For Good”.
