MACOMB – Pawsitively delicious cookies and lemonade will be the order of the day from 11 a.m.1:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 8 at 2Dye4 Hair & Co on Macomb's downtown square.
For the third consecutive year, Breckyn Murphy, the daughter of 2Dye4 Owner Gabrielle Murphy- Dye and Lance Murphy, will hold her lemonade-and-cookie stand in front of her mother's salon to raise funds for the McDonough County Animal Shelter. To date, the six-year-old has raised $2,500 for the shelter through her lemonade stand.
'Breckyn has such a big heart and an undeniable love for animals,' said Courtney Powelson, who wrote to the Community News Brief about her young charge's initiative. 'She turns seven on Aug. 28 and this is how she wants to celebrate: by giving back.'
In addition to fresh lemonade and sugar and chocolate chip cookies for sale, dog-themed treats will be available for purchase courtesy of Spreadz. Cash and Venmo are accepted for the human and pup treats.

'I feel bad that the animals don't have a home and I hope this brings awareness to the local animals needing a place to live, and I want to help feed the animals,' Breckyn said.
'I enjoy seeing all the people around the community come show support at the lemonade stand, and it's fun to see all my friends.'
Dye-Murphy said she's proud of her daughter for using her 'big heart to make a difference.'
'Watching her pour love (and lemonade!) into helping animals in need reminds me what kindness and compassion look like,' she said. 'She's learning early that even small acts can make a big impact—and that makes this mama beam with pride.'
