School days, school days, dear old golden rule days … The Regional Office of Education 26 (ROE 26) will host its first-ever McDonough County. Back to School Fair from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 5 at the Macomb Middle School. The event, which is open free to all students in the Macomb, Bushnell-Prairie City and West Prairie school districts, as well as surrounding McDonough County schools, will feature physical, immunizations and haircuts at no charge, along with free clothing, shoes and school supplies. In addition, a resource fair will be held during the day-long program, featuring 20 area social service organizations and other support-related agencies.
Transportation will be provided from Colchester, Good Hope and Bushnell. Students in need of a school physical, immunizations, a haircut and/or transportation must register in advance at tinyurl.com/ROE26BTSFair2025.
While walk-ins are welcome, students will be seen on a first come-first served basis. A parent or guardian must accompany any student(s) under 18. School physicals are required for all new students and students entering preschool, kindergarten and sixth and ninth grades.
'The goal of this event is to ensure that all McDonough County students and their families are fully prepared for the upcoming school year. We believe it' s essential that every student starts the year with the supplies they need, a fresh haircut, appropriate clothing and shoes and any required physicals/ immunizations,' said event coordinator Abby Beck, director for attendance and family support services for ROE 26. Starting the year off right sets students, parents and school districts up for a successful year ahead. The event is made possible through the effort of ROE26's LEAP and Truancy programs, along with the generous contributions from our community partners.
