Madeline Olson was born on the family farm in southeastern McDonough County on March 18, 1921.
She passed away peacefully at Wesley Village on July 26, 2025. Madeline graduated from Table Grove High School in 1939 and subsequently attended beauty school in Peoria, Illinois. During World War II she managed a PX at Camp Ellis. On January 6, 1946 she married Robert C. (Bob) Olson. They successfully farmed together for 40 years and were happily married for 65 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her parents, Everett and Florence (Sowers) Heaton; her siblings, Aaron Heaton, Mildred Cicolani and Keath Heaton and her daughter- in-law, Karen Olson.
She is survived by her sons, Greg (Luan) Olson and Gaylord Olson; five grandchildren, Angela, Kathryn, John, Emily and Matt; eight great-grandchildren, Christian, Will, Valerie, Jillian, Campbell, Emerson, Finley and Charlotte and numerous nieces and nephews.
Madeline attended the Wesley Village Methodist Church. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening, embroidery, rug making and furniture refurbishing. Oh, and she never met a cookie or chocolate she didn’t like.
Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2025 followed by funeral services/celebration of life at 11 a.m. at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home 303 East Washington Street, Macomb, Illinois. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Macomb. Lunch will be served at 12:30 at Park Place, 127 East Carroll, Macomb, Illinois.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be made in Madeline’s name to either Wesley Village or MDH Hospice.
