Create Art Studio Offers Art Classes for Children

Cyndee Dunsworth is owner of Create Art Studio for Kids which offers instruction in drawing, painting, sculpting, printmaking and fiber arts. Dunsworth is also an art teacher at St. Paul School two days a week, she has been in her studio located in the Masonic Temple building since 2010.

She offers art classes to all ages from two on up in a variety of art forms. Classes are intentionally kept small so that Cyndee can give each student adequate time.

Classes are offered weekly during the school year, generally right after the school day. Dunsworth divides her year into two semesters-fall and winter/spring. She also offers summer workshops, and even private lessons.

There are classes for everyone at Dunsworth's studio-preschool, kids, teens and adults.

While having fun, the artist's are encouraged to explore, learn and grow in their artistic skills.

Cyndee may look familiar as she was the former owner of the Magic Dragon Toy Store. With her two children now grown, she has more time to expand her art business to include adult classes and even birthday parties for kids.

Dunsworth stresses that Macomb is a city that supports the arts and she is glad to be a part of this experience.

Create Art Studio for Kids generally costs around $25 per class with classes lasting 1-1 1/2 hours.

To sign children up for classes and to see her full schedule of workshops go to Cyndee's website: createartstudioforkids. com, stop by at 133 South Randolph, Suite 206 or call 309-255-8293.

The art studio can also be found on Facebook and Instagram by searching Create Art Studio for Kids.

Dunsworth's studio, located on the second floor of the historic Macomb Masonic building, warmly reminiscent of the 1940's or 1950's with tall ceilings and large period transoms.

Not surprising since the Macomb Lodge #17 A.F. & A.M. was chartered on October 2, 1843, the historic temple itself was built by the Masons (1st and 2nd floors) in 1881. There is an elevator available for those unable to climb the two flights of stairs.
