Macomb City Township Tax Assessor Glenda Bryan told the board Monday that her 2025 tax roll books were completed last week and turned over to the McDonough County Supervisor of Assessments. She said her field assessments are continuing with new construction as well as improvements on residential and business properties.
City Township Supervisor Angela Markley reported that she received a rough draft of the 2024-2025 external audit from the firm BakerTilly on June 25. She said representatives of the auditing firm were in Macomb last week for an in person review of city records. “Everything seems to be going well at this time,” Markley said.
The township supervisor reported that eight general assistance applications have been turned in since July 1. For the month of June, there were 33 applications reviewed.
Two of them were denied and action on eight others is still pending.
Of the applications approved, eight men and one woman were determined to be employable. Five men and three women were found to be medically exempt from employment, and nine men and seven women have filed for disability.
Markley said her office released $12,025 in general assistance distributions in June. The largest amount distributed was $8,722 for shelter expenses.
