Wesley Village Ice Cream Social Aug. 1

Wesley Village Ice Cream Social Aug. 1

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream … and pie … and cookies … and FUN!

The 35th annual Wesley Village Ice Cream Social, a summer staple, will be held from 6-8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 1, on the lawn and community center at Macomb's Wesley Village. Tickets, $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under, are available at the Wesley Village office (1200 E. Grant St.). Walk-ins are welcome at the event. Admission includes ice cream, pie, cookies, tea and water, and activities and games for all ages, including the King Graffiti Band, live 'unicorns,' a Human Slot Machine, giant Plinko, Sparky the Firehouse Dog and a Macomb Fire Department truck for littles to check out and a bounce house. Youngsters can also learn how to pass, kick and make the perfect goal with members of the Macomb High School football and soccer teams.

'There is truly something for everyone at this year's ice cream social, and we have some terrific prizes for the games thanks to our generous sponsors,' said Lisa Ward, Wesley's director of development. 'Our ice cream social is about fellowship and community. It's a wonderful evening for everyone, and our residents love seeing everyone come out to support their home. It's really a great night.'

Indoor seating will be available for participants to enjoy their ice cream and food, and to take a break from the heat. Plenty of seating is available outdoors as well, Ward added, and there will be room to boogie, shake and shimmy to the smooth sounds of King Graffiti. All proceeds go to the Wesley Foundation's Benevolent Care Fund.

'Along with our Lights of Love, the ice cream social is one of our fundraisers and 'friendraisers.' We greatly appreciate the support and generosity that so many give to the Wesley Foundation and our organization,' Ward added. 'I have so much love in my heart for Wesley Village and all that we do to make this a wonderful place for our residents and our community.'
