Macomb Park District Business Manager Chris Frankhauser told the park board last week that three district sites have been registered for solar panel installation: Lakeview Nature Center, Ball Fore Family Entertainment Center, and the park district office. He said the amount of solar activity credit is being reviewed by the Internal Revenue Service.
Frankhauser said four of five special recreation athletes recently medaled in Special Olympics track and field competition. He also reported that kickball sessions for children are being offered at Veterans Park from 4 to 6 p.m. on July 27 and August 3. A special activity, the Hogwash Bash slip & slide, will be offered from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Glenwood Park shelter.
Former park board president John Hemingway has rejoined the board to fill a vacancy. He announced last Tuesday his intention to file a motion in August to name the new basketball court at Patton Park in memory of the late Valencia Pettigrew, a former board vice-president. 'Her history of exceptional service deserves some recognition,' Hemingway said. Board President Neil Armstrong agreed, saying Pettigrew had displayed passion in her work on behalf of the park district.
District Treasurer Phil Weis said the park district has received a $746,499 property tax payment. He also reported that the district general fund totaled $117,327 at the end of June, and that the consolidated project fund had a $59,637 balance at the end of last month.
