William Joseph Cavanaugh, 51, formerly of Monmouth, Illinois passed away suddenly Tuesday, May 27, 2025 in Puerto Vallerta, Mexico.
Born on February 6, 1974 in Midland, Michigan, Will (B.J.) Grew up in Monmouth, attending Monmouth schools, participating in scouts, cross country, and martial arts. He built a simple and private life.
After graduating with honors from Hamilton Technical College, he embarked on a colorful and varied career from tech assistant, tatoo artist, D.J. to General Manager of a tiling business in Durango, Colorado. Whatever the job, Will brought humor, drive, and spark.
He was generous and compassionate driven not by ambition but, a desire to know and care for people. Above all, he valued deep and honest relationships stemming from a natural love of music and the arts.
Will is survived by his companion, Diana Garza of Durango, Colorado; his faithful dog, Radar; his mother, Linda (David) Miller of Macomb; father, Dennis (Katie) Cavanaugh of Durango, Colorado; sisters, Christy (Tyler) Sparks of Bloomington, Indiana and Sara (Tim Neylan) Cavanaugh of Plano, Texas as well as extended family and friends.
Preceding him in death were many loved ones who no doubt, welcomed him with open arms.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Meks on Main Entrance 110th East Archer, Monmouth, Illinois from 2 to 5 p.m.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Western Illinois Animal Rescue in Monmouth.
