86 of Adair

Maralyn J. McSperritt age 86 of Adair, Illinois, passed away at 9:40 P.M. Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy. She was born August 31, 1938 in Summon, Illinois, to John and Irma Schisler Skiles. Maralyn was united in marriage April 7, 1956, at the First Christian Church in Macomb to Donald McSperritt.

Surviving is her husband of 69 years Donald McSperritt, Adair, 4 daughters: Diana (Tony) Hawkins, Nixa, Missouri, Debbie (Jeff) Martindale, McLean, Illinois, Amy (Bob) Kelley, Carthage, Illinois, Melissa (Paul Gonzalez) McSperritt, Peoria, Illinois, 1 son: Jeff McSperritt, Adair, Illinois, 11 grandchildren: Jeremy Hawkins, Krista Perez, Matt Hawkins, Meredith Wilken, Misty Phillips, Lance Kelley, Lyndsay Cole, Christopher Stein, Kayla Stein, Jordan Stein, Jared Stein, 19 great grandchildren, and 1 sister: Karen Brobston, Gerlaw, Illinois, along with several nieces and nephews.

Maralyn was preceded in death by 1 infant daughter: Donna Sue McSperritt, her parents, 3 brothers: Hubert Skiles, Wesley Skiles, Bernard Skiles, and 1 sister: Lorraine Pointer.

Maralyn was a graduate of Industry High School and loved the time she spent going to school which gave her the love to read. She could read a book in one day. She had attended the Macomb and Bushnell Assembly of God Church, she was also a member of the church’s Women’s Ministry. She enjoyed playing the piano, riding her bike, caring for her flower gardens, baking treats for her family, and listening to Christian music of which her favorite singer was George Beverly Shea. Maralyn and her daughters would take girl trips, and she was so excited to get to go that she would have her bags packed a week before they left. Most of all Maralyn loved God, her husband, children, grand children and great grand children, with all her heart.

Private family graveside services will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb. Friends may view and sign the register book at the Jones Funeral Chapel in Colchester from 8:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.
