To the Editor:
We used to have friends and relatives who belonged to different political parties. Some of us still do. This country belongs to all of us. Whatever our origins were, we are here now.
Anyone who didn't have relatives living here before Columbus ' discovered America' is an immigrant. Some of us came here not by choice seeking a better life, but were dragged here in chains. We are all here now.
I challenge you to talk, really have a conversation with a friend, relative or acquaintance whose political views differ from your own.
Talk in your own words, not political sound bites.
Talk about your children and /or younger friends and the future that you want for them In the process I hope you discover we are all human beings who deserve to live in this country in peace.
We used to be closer to this future...Let's begin those conversations again.
